2012

Struggles to get to grips with Ferrari's tricky F2012 and is comprehensively outclassed by team mate Alonso over first half of season, rarely making it into Q3. Slowly improves before scoring his first podium since 2010 in Japan. Retains seat for 2013.

2011
Comprehensively outclassed by his team mate, scoring less than 50 percent of Alonso's points tally. Fails to make the podium in his tenth year in F1, during which he makes his 100th start for Ferrari.

2010
Bounces back from 2009 injury, finishing second to new team mate Alonso at Bahrain opener. Beats him to the podium in Australia, but form less convincing at later races. Controversially moves aside to let Alonso win in Germany, as he and Ferrari back Spaniard's title bid.
2009
Ferrari's initial lack of pace and reliability means no podium appearance until round nine, then he fractures his skull in a freak qualifying accident in Hungary, where he is struck by a loose spring from another car. Misses the remainder of the season.

2008
Shows new levels of speed and maturity, becoming Ferrari's main championship contender with six victories and six pole positions. Misses out on title by a single point, despite winning dramatic season finale in his native Brazil.

2007
Scores three wins and six pole positions, but reliability issues and a disqualification in Canada put him out of title contention. Nevertheless, plays a vital role in Ferrari's 2007 championship double and re-signs for the team until 2010.

2006
Three pole positions and two race wins in his first year partnering Michael Schumacher at Ferrari help strengthen his reputation as one of the sport's rising talents. Finishes third overall in drivers' championship.

2005
Out-performs Sauber team mate and former champion Jacques Villeneuve to finish 13th in the standings. Matches career-best result with fourth place in Canada. Signs as Michael Schumacher's Ferrari team mate for 2006.

2004
Returns to a race seat with Sauber. Inconsistent season, scoring 12 points with a best finish of fourth place in Belgium.

2003
Formula One test driver with Ferrari.

2002
First Formula One season with Sauber. Finishes 13th in the drivers' championship, with a best result of fifth place in the Spanish Grand Prix.

2001
Wins the Formula 3000 Euro-Series with six wins from eight races, six pole positions and five fastest laps.

2000
Finishes first in the both the Italian and European Formula Renault series.

1999
Wins the Brazilian Formula Chevrolet championship.

1998
Finishes fifth in the Brazilian Formula Chevrolet championship.
